A few weeks ago I photographed jazz singer Sorina Rotaru at her home in Bucharest.

For this one I used a Fujifilm camera and a piece of glass to bend and distort parts of the image while shooting, the same technique I used in an earlier series. Not every photo came out that way though, some are clean and sharp, others were shot on film, so the set ends up mixing different textures rather than sticking to one look.

It's also a mix of color and black and white, depending on what worked better for each shot.

The idea was to get something elegant, like you're sitting in someone's living room listening to jazz. Sorina already has that kind of presence, so we built the photos around that instead of forcing a concept on top of it.
