Hi, I’m Adrian Luican
I’m a portrait photographer in Bucharest, Romania, working with leaders, creatives, and brands locally and internationally. I create honest, calm portraits that help people feel confident and natural in front of the camera.
My work focuses on presence, expression, and genuine moments. The aim is simple: to create images that represent you clearly and professionally, without forced posing or artificial performance.
How I work
I work in a documentary-inspired way, even in structured environments. Instead of directing exaggerated poses, I guide you through a calm, focused process that allows natural expressions to emerge.
Most people tell me they feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. My role is to make that part easy — to create a setting where you can feel grounded and confident, whether it’s a corporate headshot, editorial portrait, or personal session.
I’m inspired by artists who prioritize feeling over perfection — André Josselin, Mihai Bădoi, Edward Hopper, Andrey Tarkovsky, and Roger Deakins. Their focus on atmosphere and emotional truth shapes how I approach light, composition, and storytelling..
Projects and experience
Over the years, I have photographed both commissioned assignments and long-term personal projects focused on portraiture and identity.
For iSTYLE Romania, I created a corporate portrait series that later evolved into Conversations, a personal project exploring authenticity within professional environments.
I photographed all 50 portraits for 25 50 100 Legacy, a book by Oliver Perkins launched in 2025, featuring Romanian leaders sharing defining moments in 100 words. The project highlights resilience, responsibility, and the human side of leadership.
I regularly work on commissioned portrait and editorial photography for brands and individuals, documented here.
I also volunteer my photography for causes that reflect my values. In 2025 I photographed the Edelweiss Charity Ball to support HOSPICE Casa Speranței.
My first solo exhibition, "SMTH. TO BE TOUCHED BY", is currently part of a permanent exhibition hosted by MSociety.ro and brings together several years of personal photographic work.
What matters to me
I’m interested in people, not performance.
Whether I’m photographing a leader, a creative professional, or someone booking a personal session, my goal is consistent: to create portraits that feel natural, confident, and meaningful over time.
Why Work With Me?
A portrait session with me is calm and professional. I guide you through the process, but keep things relaxed and unforced. My focus is on helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera and creating portraits that feel personal, honest, and true to you.
Let’s Talk.
